For this painting I was thinking about how it feels like there are multiple versions of ourselves— the past, the present, and the future. Focusing too much on either the past or the furture often puts me in this state that I’d compare to a trance, where my mind becomes so occupied with those thoughts I basically can’t function in the present. This painting questions who we are in the present moment, and and whether we can every truly let go of the past and future to fully be our current self.
